Home House Ramsgate

Home House Ramsgate is a gorgeous holiday home in the Royal Cinque Port of Ramsgate, Kent. A part-listed Georgian building, lovingly restored by it’s owners, Home House shows much of it’s original history with the addition of some contemporary details. We hope you like it.

In 2011 the house was awarded a blue historical plaque as Sir William Jordan, New Zealand High Commissioner, was born in the house.

The 26ft long basement is light, airy and a gorgeous space for cooking and dining. The dining table seats 10 and we also have a high chair. Our kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cooking tools. We have a dishwasher, range cooker, microwave, huge fridge freezer and a washing machine.

The ground floor has a small sitting room/vestibule with a sofa, desk with stool and shelves stocked with books for all. The stairs to the basement lead off from here. We also have the main sitting room with two armchairs and a large L-shaped sofa. There is a TV (Freeview), a DVD player, DVDs and an alcove filled with board games and puzzles to suit all ages.

On the first floor there is a big family bathroom which has a bath with shower, WC and wash basin. The master bedroom is on this floor with a king size bed and a second WC and washbasin.

There are two bedrooms on the second floor (top of the house) and a walk in shower accessible from both rooms. The shower features tiles by our friend and acclaimed artist Rob Ryan. One of the bedrooms has two adult sized single beds and the other has a double bed. We also have 2 travel cots.

Ramsgate is a pretty and traditional seaside town. Home House is situated on a quiet residential street, one end of which overlooks the marina and the other leads you to Waitrose (a couple of minutes walk from the front door) and the main road leading down into the town centre.

There are so many places to eat and drink in Ramsgate. We are a few minutes away from a parade of impressive restaurants offering Italian, French, Thai, Indian (all offering take away) and five minutes walk away from the seafront giving you pubs and a range of food options from Pizza Express to Peter’s traditional fish and chips.

Ramsgate has a Blue Flag sandy beach which is perfect for digging sandcastles and swimming in the sea ( life guards on duty in high season). With it’s Royal Harbour (the only one in the UK) and the old Clockhouse (which houses the Maritime Museum) you can gaze out to sea and relax. Whether you want an energetic holiday walking, cycling or taking part in heart-racing water sports – or pottering around museums and other historical attractions – or perhaps playing golf on one of many championship courses available locally – there are plenty of things for everyone to get involved with, rain or shine. There are some amazing nature reserves and trail walks nearby. Broadstairs, an old haunt of Charles Dickens, is an easy and enjoyable 50 minute walk along the cliffs. Margate, Canterbury and Whitstable can be reached by bus and train or a short drive in the car. You can even hop on a ferry from Ramsgate and spend the day in Belgium.
